On the Extinction of Species is a series of drawings based on photographs or 3D models of the skeletal remains of extinct animals. The title references Charles Darwin's book "On the Origin of Species." Each drawing is executed in white acrylic on black paper and created quickly in a single session, similar to the spontaneity of Japanese calligraphy.
The series emerged organically as I explored the history of extinct animal species, capturing their images in a rapid technique akin to hieroglyphs, aiming to transform the image into a symbol. As a result, the series serves as an archive of sketches that can be appreciated as a standalone project.
